THE MOTIFS OF CELESTIAL BODIES IN IRON CROSSES
Stravinskas Antanas: Summary (Dangaus kunu motyvai gelezinese kryziu
virsunese // Senoves lietuviu simboliai. V., 1992. P. 150-164)

The motifs of celestial bodies (symbols) must have appeann on tops of wooden crosses and other monuments of the past as well as in places of worship in three ways. Some scientists considr the combination of the cross, the sun, the moon and stars to hi
of purely Christian origin, other investigators are of the opinion that such a combination is a symbiosis of national traditions and
Christian culture. The third way, according to C. G. Jung, might have been the phenomenon of general (mass) psychology and at the same time a spontaneous expression of human psychology.
